Goals & Objectives

APPROACHES TO LEARNING

Goal: By the end of the year, the students will engage in new experiences and activities to further their knowledge by engaging in center based activities.

Objective: The students will be able to grow plants and observe them over the course of a few weeks to see the changes that occur.

PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT AND HEALTH

Goal: By the end of the unit, the students will be able to use 2 or more of their senses to assist and guide learning.

Objective: The students will be able to build on their prior knowledge of plants and planting through activities that require their senses.

SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL LEARNING

Goal: By the end of the term, the students will demonstrate and continue to develop positive relationships with their peers by engaging in center based activities. 

Objective: The students will be able to share materials with other children during planting activities.  

COMMUNICATION, LANGUAGE AND LITERACY

Goal: By the end of the unit, students will demonstrate a growing receptive language by making observations and describing them using the new vocabulary taught.

Objective: The students will be able to draw their observations of the growing plants in their journals and verbally describe them. 

COGNITION AND KNOWLEDGE OF THE WORLD

Goal: By the end of the term, the students will identify measurable attributes of objects, such as length and describe them using correct vocabulary such as short, tall, etc.

Objective: The students will be able to use unifix cubes to measure and compare the classroom plants.
